DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY UND PSYCHOTHERAPY

Information for Relatives

In the interest of treating those affected, we welcome a collaborative partnership. There are a few points to bear in mind.

Relatives are not responsible for everything. It is not you, but the person affected, who has to manage their own life. It is very important that, amid all your worries and responsibilities, you do not forget your own life.

  • The person affected who is in treatment will decide whether and to what extent they wish their relatives to be involved. Doctors, nursing staff and social workers are happy to provide advice.
  • Staff at the clinic are bound by the legally regulated duty of confidentiality and, without being released from this duty by the person affected, may not give any information about an illness (in particular not by telephone, as the identity and consent of the person affected cannot be verified in that case).
  • It is advisable to arrange an appointment in advance for a conversation on the ward.
  • Especially in the case of acute admissions, all those involved (the person affected, staff (experts) and relatives) are called upon. In this situation we must give priority to the wellbeing of the person affected in order to resolve the crisis as quickly as possible, and we ask for your understanding.
  • You can find our contact details on this website.

Our goal is the acceptance of the mental illness and its professional treatment, so that it is possible to lead a self-determined life with individual quality of life.
